Our boy Lunice is making moves. The Montreal producer has been making you go crunk in turbo fashion since the nights that booty bass echoed in the cave that was Zoobizarre. After sharing the stage with Major Lazor at this year's Osheaga festival, Lunice teams up with godfather producer Diplo to give Deerhunter a reworking of their new track Helicopter. One look at his dance moves to the soundtrack of his own production, and you know you'll be seeing him on a major festival stage near you very soon.
After much hype and commotion, Diplo's Gucci Mane mixtape was finally released on the Mad Decent's site, though "mixtape" is a bit of a misleading title. Not only did Gucci release a ridiculous amount of music through mixtapes, guest appearances, and an album during the year, but the industry's remixers took note as well, remixing the raspy-voiced rap enigma's tracks into oblivion. Diplo's new project is a compilation of some of the best remixes, with old and new releases combined together to crown off Gucci's dominance of 2009. Check the tracklist below for the eclectically ambitious list of producers whose work is featured on the mix. Though Diplo's claim that M.I.A's new album will sound like, "a mix between Gucci Mane and Animal Collective' may have sounded absurd at first, his recent surge of appreciation for the incarcerated rapper shows that it is not a tag he takes lightly. Let's see where it goes from here. Got to the Mad Decent site to download the mix yourself, and in the meantime, check out Diplo's newest personal re-invention of Gucci's material.
It must be hard being sentanced to 12 months for violating parole, when you coulda been out being the new hood sensation. Whatever its like in there, hasnt stopped Diplo & Mad Decent from putting out a mixtape with the ATL rapper. Word to the judge that frees Gucci after hearing this.
Epic, romantic, gangster.
