Tokyo Thursday Winter ’10 Mixtape by Truspin.

Truspin is Montreal’s hardest working DJ. He holds down the weekly madness in the mainroom at Tokyo Thursdays (AND Fridays) as well as his own night, Le Spank at Blue Dog Motel, Saturdays. He’s unquestionably one of the most talented, experienced, and versatile DJs in Montreal. Truspin dropped this mix just in time to give us a clip of his tastemaking ability before competing in this years Red Bull 3style competition this friday at Telus Theatre. This mix is just how we like it, electronic, dancy, but tasteful. Perfect pre-gaming music. There is no hard electro. No sirens. No brain wrenching distortion. Just blissfull sounds. Thanks for a perfect set of tasteful electro-pop!

Keys N’ Krates are a difficult act to explain. ”Live Remixing,” their preferred nomenclature for their style of music, doesn’t really do justice in conveying the nature or amplitude of what they’re capable of. The dynamic with Lunice, the upcoming show’s other act, will definitely spin off into hysterics – imagine seeing Lunice playing one of his amazing sets, chopping samples and blowing out speakers, and then getting to witness Keys N’ Krates come out and drop an equally crushing set backed with live instruments. Insane! Since they’re primarily a live band, check out these videos to get a hold on the magnitude of their act.

The trio consists of world champion turntablist and certified DJ Jr-Flo (Eh! Team), the ever soulful Matisse on keys and Tune on drums. URB Magazine recently ranked Keys N’ Krates in their prestigious NEXT100 musicians of the year, and their mini-documentary on the group (below) explains why KNK’s live remix is something you have to see to believe.

The Orisue Holiday Collection recently dropped and it is far and away their most ambitious set of releases yet. As per usual, the focus remains on the high quality denim, with releases ranging from slim to classic fits. This season, however, Orisue has started to develop new areas of expertise, crafting classic jackets, knit pieces, and khakis, all draped in a darkly rich color palette. These days, no winter drop would be complete a few dope flannel pieces, either. Click below for more pics of the line and to check out the Orisue skate team’s recent tour rocking the threads.

One of the best parts of Orisue, besides the clothes, naturally, is the support they show the skate scene. Check out this tour vid of the Orisue Team through Northern California to see some dope skating and check out what’s dropping for Spring and Summer. Ain’t no shame in it.
