Fresh from the success of her first ever film soundtrack design for Darren Aronofsky's Oscar winning Black Swan, Mary Anne Hobbs returns to Montréal at Club Lambi on the 29th April.
"The undisputed first lady of bass" (XLR8R) can ride any motorcylce you put in front of her, but is most reknowned for breaking new electronic music on the world stage. For 14 years Hobbs worked for Britain's BBC Radio 1, hosting an influential experimental music show that drew widespread attention to dubstep, grime, bass music and other underground electronic genres. Last summer Hobbs announced that she was leaving Radio 1 to start her new position as Media Development Coordinator at Sheffield University and continues to tour her selector skills around the world.
Mary Anne Hobbs will appear with Montréal-based experimental noise makers Meat Parade & The Gulf Stream as well as Lookout's resident DJ, Rilly Guilty & DJ Lexis.
